Regarding local seamstresses... That is so true. I've been planning a post on Laurie & Molly and, specifically, how much I like Chrissy Wai Ching.
I'm soooo fickle when it comes to dress design and construction. One minute I love overlays. The next I can't stand them and I really just want something beaded. Then, I decide I want something simple. Normal clothes shopping is hard for me. The Dress (tm) is unbelievably hard.
I clearly need to man up and make some dress decisions. :-)

You know, you've got the time -- why not look into having someone local duplicate that dress to suit your (and your inlaw's) style?
Seattle had a lot of good local seamstresses when I went looking, it's just that none were as cheap or friendly as my mom ;-)
